A laundry room at home: planning it in a small space

Washer and dryer column, utility sink and storage: how to plan a practical laundry room even in a few square metres.

A laundry room at home: planning it in a small space

1. Start with the appliances

A standard washing machine is about 60 cm wide, 60 cm deep and 85 cm high. If you want to stack the dryer, a dedicated column around 70 cm wide holds both appliances safely and hides them behind a door.

Measure your own model before choosing: some appliances are deeper. The technical sheets of our laundry compositions show the inner dimensions of the compartments.

2. The utility sink makes the difference

A deep utility sink next to the washing machine is ideal for pre-treating, hand washing and household cleaning. Where space is tight, a compact 100–120 cm composition combines the sink and the appliance bay under one top.

3. Storage and order

Wall units and tall cabinets keep detergents, baskets and the ironing board tidy. Think about what you need within reach and what can go higher up.

  • A dedicated socket near the appliances
  • Reachable drain and water connection
  • Ventilation for the dryer
