How to hide a washing machine in the bathroom

No laundry room? How to build the washer and dryer into the bathroom behind doors, with a sink and storage, and which measurements to take first.

How to hide a washing machine in the bathroom

1. The problem: the washer has no place

In many homes the washing machine ends up in the bathroom because there is nowhere else. The result is nearly always the same: a white appliance next to the basin, hoses and cables on show, detergent on the floor and no surface to fold laundry.

Standard furniture does not solve it, because washers and dryers vary in height and depth and the connections are always somewhere else. You need furniture built around your appliance.

2. Solutions that work

The cleanest option is a housing unit with doors: closed, it looks like any other bathroom cabinet. The sink sits beside it at the same height, with wall units and a mirror cabinet above. With little width, a tall unit takes the washer and, if the sizes allow, the dryer above it.

  • Housing unit with doors next to the sink
  • Tall washer unit when width is limited
  • Continuous top over the appliances for folding
  • Wall units and mirror cabinet for detergent and towels

3. The measurements we need

Before choosing, measure the appliance (width, height, depth including the connections at the back) and the wall. Note where the tap, drain and socket are. With these figures we check free of charge which composition takes it and send you the 3D project before you order.

  • Washer width, height and depth
  • Room for the door to open
  • Position of water supply, drain and socket

4. Practical tips

Leave a few centimetres around the machine for vibration and ventilation, especially with a dryer. Choose moisture-resistant, easy-clean fronts and tops. In a small room, a reduced depth on the sink side frees the walkway.
