Furnishing a small bathroom: sizes, furniture and tricks
Small bathroom or guest WC: which width and depth to choose, how drawers and mirror cabinets gain space, and why made to measure pays off.
Updated October 21, 2026

1. The right width
In a guest WC 50–70 cm is enough for a comfortable basin; in a small main bathroom 70–90 cm also gives worktop. Measure the free wall and subtract the space the door and shower need. If the figure falls between two standard sizes, do not take the smaller one: have the larger one reduced.
2. Depth matters more than width
You need 70–80 cm clear in front of the basin. In a narrow bathroom, a base unit 35–45 cm deep instead of 50 is the difference between a room you move in and one where you bump into everything.
3. More storage in less space
Drawers use the base unit right to the back; doors do not. A mirror cabinet doubles storage without taking floor space, and a wall unit above the WC uses a wall that usually stays empty.
- Drawers instead of doors
- Mirror cabinet
- Light colours that reflect light
- Basin matched to the top, no overhang
4. Why made to measure pays off here
In a small bathroom every lost centimetre counts. We reduce base unit, top and mirror in width, height and depth, and before you order we send you the 3D project so you can see how it will look in your room.
