Vanity height and depth: the right measurements
How high to mount the basin, how deep the base unit should be and how much space to leave in front: guide values and when to reduce them.
Updated October 21, 2026

1. Countertop height
The guide is 82–88 cm from the floor. For tall people go towards 90 cm; with a countertop basin the rim counts, not the top, so the top sits lower. Our technical sheets give the recommended installation height.
2. Base unit depth
45–50 cm is the most common depth. Below 40 cm the basin has to be flatter; the minimum depth of each composition depends on the basin, and we work it out for you.
3. The space in front
Leave 70–80 cm clear to stand and open drawers. If you do not have it, reduce the depth of the unit rather than giving up storage.
